Why Use the SonusVid TikTok Cover Resizer
The Picture Stays on Your Device
Cropping and exporting both happen in your browser, so your picture is never sent to a server.
Free, Without a Watermark
No sign-in and no credits. The cover you export is clean, and you can make as many as you need.
1080×1920, Already Chosen
The page opens on the vertical size commonly used for a TikTok cover, so there is nothing to look up.
One File for Three Apps
Guides give 1080×1920 for Reels and Shorts as well, so one export can often serve all three.
Wide and Square Pictures Become Vertical Covers
Crop to fill lets you choose the vertical strip to keep, and Keep whole puts the entire picture in the middle with a blurred copy of it above and below.
Usual Picture Formats Accepted
Import a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 25MB and export it as a JPG or PNG.
TikTok Covers: Size, Cropping and Reuse
What size is a TikTok cover?
Most guides give 1080×1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical picture, as the size of a TikTok cover. It is the same shape as the video, so the cover fills the screen. A few guides name 720×1280 as the smallest size worth using.
JPG and PNG are the formats guides mention. They disagree about the file size limit, with some saying about 5MB and others 10MB, so this page does not promise a number. A 1080×1920 JPG is normally far smaller than either, and the tool shows the final size after you export.
None of these figures comes from TikTok itself, and the app changes from time to time. Treat them as a sensible starting point and check what the app shows you when you post.
Where TikTok crops the cover
On a profile, videos appear in a grid, and the grid shows only part of each cover. Guides disagree about how much. Some describe a centred square, others a crop of roughly 3:4, so the top and bottom of the picture may be trimmed.
Whichever shape is right, the middle of the picture is in every version. Put faces, products and text near the centre, and keep them away from the very top and bottom edges.
Small labels, such as the number of views, can also sit over the bottom of a cover. Leave a little room there rather than putting a title right on the edge, where it could be hidden.
One vertical cover for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts use the same 1080×1920 shape in the guides, so one export can often serve all three apps. Guides add that Instagram shows a Reel cover in the feed as a centred 4:5 crop, 1080×1350 pixels.
That is one more reason to compose for the middle. A picture framed with its subject centred holds up in the grid, in the feed and on the video page alike.
If your picture is wide or square, Crop to fill lets you choose which vertical strip stays, and Keep whole shows all of it over a blurred copy. Either way the file comes out at exactly 1080×1920.
