How it works

How to Convert Audio to Video

Choose the audio, set the picture, download the MP4. All in your browser.

01

Choose your audio

A song, a podcast clip or a voice recording: MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG all work, up to 8 minutes. Click to choose or drag it onto the upload box; the file is never uploaded.

02

Set up the picture

By default the video shows a moving waveform on a dark background. Add your own image, such as cover art, a show logo or a photo, if you like, then pick landscape 16:9 or vertical 9:16 and one of five waveform styles.

03

Convert and download

Your browser encodes the audio and the picture into one MP4, with live progress you can cancel. Play it back to check, then download it and upload it wherever you post video.

Audio to Video: Picture, Formats and Limits

Why turn audio into video?

Any of these becomes an MP4 that video platforms accept.

Most of the places people scroll, from YouTube and TikTok to Instagram, X and LinkedIn, are built for video. An audio file can't be posted there on its own, so a song, a podcast clip or a voice note has to be wrapped in a video file first, even if the picture is simple.

A moving waveform is the simplest picture that still says something: it shows the audio is playing, rises and falls with the voice or the beat, and gives people something to watch while they listen. Add an image, such as cover art, a show logo or a speaker's photo, and viewers know at a glance whose audio it is.

This converter does the wrapping in your browser. Your audio becomes the soundtrack of an H.264 and AAC MP4, the format video platforms, phones and editing apps handle best, and nothing is sent to a server along the way.

Waveform only, or add an image?

Waveform only: the waveform on dark. With an image: the image shown whole, the waveform below it.

Waveform only puts the moving waveform on a plain dark background. It suits voice notes, interviews and clips where the words matter more than the picture, and it needs nothing but the audio file.

With an image, your picture is fitted whole, never cropped, and a blurred, darkened copy of it fills the rest of the frame, so a square cover or a portrait photo works in either shape. The waveform runs below the image (Circle Spectrum puts it inside its ring instead), and in vertical videos the image sits in the upper half, clear of the captions apps show at the bottom.

Both modes offer five waveform styles. For speech, the Oscilloscope's single line or the calm Ribbon Wave keeps the focus on the voice; for music, Neon Bars, the default, or Classic Bars show the beat most clearly. You can preview each style with your own audio before converting.

Which formats work, and what are the limits?

What goes in, the size and length caps, and what comes out.

The converter reads MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG files, and usually other audio your browser can decode, up to 50MB. Images can be JPG, PNG or WebP up to 15MB. Every video comes out as an MP4 at 30 frames per second, 1280×720 in landscape or 720×1280 in vertical, with the audio re-encoded as AAC.

Audio can be up to 8 minutes long, because the whole file is decoded and drawn in your browser's memory. That covers songs and most clips, but not a full podcast episode: cut out the moment you want to share and convert that. Short clips suit social feeds better anyway.

Conversion runs on your own device, so its speed depends on the device and the length of the audio, and the page needs to stay open until it finishes. It works in the latest Chrome or Edge on a computer and in Safari 26 or later; Firefox can't encode this kind of video yet.
