How it works

How to Convert MP3 to MP4

Three steps, all in your browser.

01

Choose an audio file

Pick an MP3 from your device, or drag it onto the upload box. WAV, M4A and OGG work too. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

02

Pick a template, picture and shape

Preview the five waveform templates live; Neon Bars is the default. Show the waveform alone or add a cover image. Landscape 16:9 suits YouTube; vertical 9:16 suits TikTok, Shorts and Reels.

03

Create and download

Your browser draws the waveform frame by frame as the music plays and encodes it into an MP4, with live progress. Preview the result, then download it.

MP3 to MP4: Waveform, Picture and Shape

Why turn an MP3 into an MP4?

Video platforms take video: put the song in an MP4 and it can go to all of these.

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels and most other places where people discover music accept video, not audio. To post a song there, it has to travel inside a video file, even if the picture is simple.

An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the combination these platforms, phones and video editors handle best. This tool writes exactly that: the picture is drawn in your browser and your song becomes the soundtrack, re-encoded as 192 kbps AAC.

A moving waveform gives listeners something to watch, and shows at a glance that the post is music. If the release has artwork, add it as the cover so the video looks like the song wherever it appears.

What does the waveform show?

Each bar is a band of frequencies: bass on the left, treble on the right, and its height is how loud that band is right now.

Each bar is a band of frequencies, from deep bass on the left to bright treble on the right. The bands are spaced the way we hear pitch, so each octave gets about the same width and the bass isn't squeezed into a corner. The bar, ribbon and circle templates all draw these bands; the oscilloscope draws the sound wave itself.

For every frame of the video, the tool measures the song at that moment and sets each bar from how loud its band is. Bars jump up quickly on a hit and settle back gently, so they follow the beat without flickering.

Because the bars come from your song itself, a kick drum lights up the left side, a vocal fills the middle and cymbals flicker on the right. Quiet passages keep a short resting line, so the picture never goes blank.

Landscape or vertical?

The cover is shown whole, never cropped, with the bars below it; in a vertical video the cover sits in the upper half.

Choose landscape 16:9 for YouTube and other places that play video in a wide player. Choose vertical 9:16 for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, which fill a phone screen; a landscape video there plays as a thin strip across the middle.

A cover image is never cropped. It is fitted whole inside the frame, and a blurred, darkened copy of the same image fills the space around it, so square album art works in both shapes.

In a vertical video the cover sits in the upper half and the bars run below it, clear of the captions and buttons platforms show along the bottom. To post the same song in both places, create the video once in each shape.
